Artist Profile: DJ Ikon

For the past decade, North America has known IKON as one of its most successful musicians. As an artist, DJ and producer, IKON has experienced countless highlights and milestones over the course of his distinguished career including having received several industry awards including the Remix Club DJ of the Year, Las Vegas Top 30 Under 30, and is the two-time recipient of the Bar and Nightclub DJ of the Year.

IKON presently resides in Las Vegas with his family performing several gigs a week and producing several original and remix tracks per month. IKON’s philosophy is to make people dance and party as hard as he plays. DJ IKON is also a product of the prestigious Los Angeles Music School Icon Collective which only accepts 12 students per year. When he isn’t performing or producing, IKON spends time building out FeatureLV, a prominent sneaker boutique in Las Vegas. 75% of the designers sold in the store are exclusive to Las Vegas, a business model the partners constructed to ensure their customers have a unique look when they are out in public. The store is frequented by big-name artists including Alesso, Taboo, Afrojack, 3LAU, and Pauly D.

IKON made his way to Las Vegas from Lake Tahoe in 2004, when then Aaron White was invited to Las Vegas by his friend DJ Hollywood to compete in a DJ battle at Rio’s Bikinis nightclub. The battle lasted five weeks and consisted of over 35 DJs. IKON was the victor which further led him to a job offer at Tangerine nightclub. “It was a very exciting time” Ikon says.

DJ IKON moved to Las Vegas in 2005 to work for Pure Management. Shortly after moving to Las Vegas, Ikon teamed up with Las Vegas legend DJ Hollywood and 98.5 KLUC to spin for Hollywood Blvd….The longest rated #1 mix show on the west coast. In 2006, DJ Ikon left Pure Management to become resident DJ for the Nine Group at The Palms.
IKON’s initial production success occurred when he created the hit track, “Shadow of the Sun,” in his home studio which he emailed it to Dave Aude who quickly put it out on his Audacious record label after adding Sisely Treasure from Shiny Toy Guns as a vocalist for the track. The track hit No. 20 on Billboard and a million views on YouTube and Vevo shorty after. That initial success led IKON to work on the “Electricity and Drums” hit remix which hit #1 on Billboard. Then the band Erasure heard that remix and hired IKON to remix their next song.
